The two volunteers Alison (Canada) and Els (the Netherlands) organized a very special Saturday-evening at WHC. Mostly, during the weekends, there is not much to do for the children. And what is better than a real Disco party?
|
Alison and Els made real yellow-colored invitations together with Mr Nura in both English and Khmer language and distributed them personally to all the children.
As a surprise they were allowed to invite one friend to the party. That appeared to be a great idea, the children were very enthusiastic! |

We (Els and Alison) bought everything we needed at the supermarket: coca, fanta, potato chips, cookies, nuts etc…
Mr Nura borrowed a real music installation with boxes form a relative. Before the Disco took off all of the 50 (!) children enjoyed a dinner that was prepared by the (lovely) cook. |
We gave her extra money so she could make extra curry, also for the friends of the WHC-kids.
So, at 18.00 we all ate curry with bread and after that, we put all tables aside and THE DISCO PARTY STARTED!!!!! |
|
 |
It really was a SUPERPARTY with beautiful traditional Khmer and Khmer disco music. Almost all children could do the traditional Khmer dance; dancing slowly around the table and making elegant moves with their hands.
|
Next to that they also did Karaoke! Savon appeared to be a talented Karaoke singer! He didn’t want to give the microphone away, we all had a good laugh!! Almost all kids kept on dancing all night, in spite of the terrible heat! They were so proud that they could show their friends to us and the staff.
Those beautiful and happy faces, the excitement during dancing; we were really moved to see how easy it is to make 50 children (and the staff) really happy!
For everybody; it was a night to remember! |
