In October Mr Nura and Sokthea (they both work at WHC) got married. Of course, the children were also there to celebrate.

Contribution birth Bent’

Earlier we informed you about the idea of a family to collect an amount of money from friends an family and to give it to WHC. They asked their family and friends to donate money instead of buying presents for their second child, Bent. The families idea was that at the time their first child was born they already received enough presents so now, they could better spend the money for another purpose. They collected a great amount of money; 2026 euro!
In November we met Maaike, Roland, Vere and Bent and received their contribution for WHC. We’d like to thank them and their family and friends who participated very much!

A Gift from Canada

World Hope Cambodia received an early Christmas gift from the students at St. Marguerite d’Youville in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.  Over 2000 students were introduced to WHC by their teacher, Mr. Jeff McCloskey, who shared stories and pictures about his sister Alison, who spent five months volunteering in Phnom Penh.  Alison taught English and Art to the children of WHC, and worked to improve the facilities and day to day life at the orphanage.

As part of their fundraising efforts the students and staff at St. Marguerite d’Youville High school put together slide presentations to learn about Cambodia's history and culture, along with the specific needs of the children of WHC.  Each student generously donated between $5 and $10 in exchange for a "dress down day" (a change from their daily school uniform) and participated in a 5 km walk in support of the orphanage.  Two students in particular donated $30 out of their own pockets specifically for soccer equipment, a gift that will make the football fans at WHC very happy!

As a result of the overwhelming support Alison has received from friends and family, she will be starting WHC Canada Foundation working in partnership with the current foundation based in The Netherlands.

From all of us at WHC, we'd like to thank all of the students and staff at St. Marguerite d’Youville high school for their support, generosity and kindness.  Akune cheron!
