[April 22nd 2007] Waterfun!

On Sunday the 22nd of April, we have taken the children to a true waterpark! Patrick organised this for the occasion of his departure. After 10 months of volunteering at WHC, he is leaving on the 30th of April.

At 09.00 hrs. AM, five volunteers and director Nura had arranged the tuk tuks and all swimming gear had been secretly packed. The children did not suspect anything. After a ride of about half an hour, we arrived at the Phnom Penh waterpark. Still, the children did not understand the purpose of the trip, until we entered and they saw the swimming pools and waterglides. They put on their swimming gear and off they went! With big smiles on their faces they all headed directly to the water glide. Although we just explained 2 minutes before that it was not allowed to run, they already forgot all about that.

Every time they passed the volunteers, the children waved and made clear that they had to watch out for them, while coming from the glides. Also, 5 large yellow inner tubes were rented to have fun with. So they had to change turns every now and then in order to all have a go. Before lunch, we collected the tubes again and found out that we suddenly had 12…….That’s the always surprising side of children!

Around noon hotdogs and cola were ordered and the children loved it. After that they quickly returned to the water glides and the swimming pool. To end the day, they were all treated with ice cream, before getting on the tuk tuks to head back to WHC. All eyes closed already on the way back and most of the children went to their beds immediately, completely exhausted of the activities and impressions of the day. One thing is for sure, this day they will never forget.
